Termination and Rehire Process in Fusion HCM

Oracle Fusion HCM (Human Capital Management) provides a comprehensive and flexible solution for managing the entire employee lifecycle — from hiring to termination and rehire. Understanding the Termination and Rehire process is essential for HR professionals working with Fusion HCM.

At iHub Talent Training Institute, we ensure our learners gain hands-on experience in real-time HCM scenarios, including managing employee exits and rehires effectively using Fusion HCM.

🔴 Termination Process in Fusion HCM

Termination in Fusion HCM means ending an employee’s active work relationship with the organization. This process can be voluntary (resignation) or involuntary (layoff, dismissal).

✅ Steps to Terminate an Employee:

Login to Fusion HCM with appropriate HR roles.

Navigate to My Client Groups > Person Management.

Search and select the employee to be terminated.

Click on Actions > Employment > Terminate.

Fill in termination details:

  • Termination Date
  • Action (e.g., Resignation, Layoff)
  • Reason
  • Final Working Day
  • Last working payroll and benefit info if needed
  • Submit the termination request.

Once submitted, the employee’s status changes to Terminated, and relevant departments (like Payroll, Benefits, etc.) are notified automatically.

🔁 Rehire Process in Fusion HCM

Rehiring is the process of bringing a previously terminated employee back into the system. Fusion HCM supports rehire while retaining historical employment details.

✅ Steps to Rehire an Employee:

Go to My Client Groups > Person Management.

Search for the terminated employee (make sure to check “Include terminated work relationships”).

Click on Actions > Employment > Rehire.

Fill in the rehire details:

  • Rehire Date
  • Business Unit, Department, Job, Grade
  • Legal Employer
  • Assignment details like Location, Manager, Salary
  • Submit the rehire request.

Fusion will create a new assignment for the employee while retaining their previous work history, performance records, and documents.

📌 Key Points to Remember

  • Terminations can be processed with future dates.
  • The rehire process supports validations like rehire eligibility rules.
  • Oracle Fusion prevents duplicate records by linking rehire to the same person ID.
  • Notification workflows ensure HR, payroll, and managers are informed.
